About Me

Welcome to my blog! My name is Shana, pronounced like Shay-nuh, and I'm probably the biggest foodie you'll ever know. I’m 30 years old and currently live in San Diego with my fiancé and two fur babies. Some of you may know me from my youtube channel and #thepaintedlipsproject; well, a lot has changed since then! I've discovered a passion for health, fitness and all things related to self-improvement, after completely transforming my life. I’m here to share all that I’ve learned, and more, with you.

  • A “little break” from social media quickly turned into a full blown unplanned detox; I haven’t posted in months, am WAY behind on comments/messages, and feel sorry about disappearing in the way that I did. While I love connecting with others thru this platform, somehow I got lost in my intentions, forgot how special living in the moment is and decided to do what felt best for my self-care and mental health. ___ Thank you to all the caring souls who have reached out.   • This weekend definitely confirmed my preference for sweets! Here are two of my favs from @veganstreetfair ___ Pic 1: @happyice I honestly wasn’t expecting much from eating ice 🤷🏿‍♀️ snow cones are cool but aren’t really my thing. This was so delicious though and it’s smooth/creamy consistency totally blew me away. Whenever I visit LA, I will hunt this truck down for another bite! (Thanks for being my hand model @theherbivorousb ) ___ Pic 2&3: Pistachio cake donuts by @thedonuttery This food truck had a consistent long line for good reason. The crumb is soft, moist and melts in your mouth. The flavor was subtle but still impactful, reminiscent of marzipan. It was delicious and made with simple minimal ingredients as if I made it myself.   • 🥬 Kale Chips 101 ___ 1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit 2. De-stem the kale leaves. Wash and dry them (really well). Tear them into 3 inch pieces. 3. Toss in a tad bit of olive oil. 4. Lay the leaves out on a wire rack + rimmed baking sheet. Don’t overlap them. 5. Sprinkle with sea salt and bake for an hour, or until crisp, turning the pan around mid way. ___ Pictured is a variation.
